Some things catch you completely off guard — even the second time around. When we learned that Westchester Magazine had once again chosen Atelier Modern as part of their Best of Westchester issue, naming us Best Curated Art, I had to sit with the news for a moment before it fully sank in. And then, to discover we’d also been recognized for Best Curated Accessories — well, that is a kind of joy I genuinely don’t have the right words for.
What makes this recognition feel so extraordinary is that we didn’t apply. Not this year, and not last year either. These honors arrived the way the best things often do — quietly, unexpectedly, as a reflection of work done out of pure love for what we do. There were no entry forms, no curated submissions, no campaign for votes. Just the gallery, the accessories, the art, and the people who walk through our doors. The fact that it found us anyway means everything.
To be seen — truly seen — by your own community, without ever asking for it, is the most humbling gift this work has given me.
Atelier Modern has always been about intention. Every piece of art on our walls, every accessory on our shelves, is here because it moved us — because it has a story, a soul, a reason to exist in a space alongside the people who discover it. Curation, to us, is not just a word. It’s a daily act of looking carefully at the world and asking: does this belong? Does this matter? Will this mean something to someone?
To have Westchester Magazine answer those questions with a resounding yes — as part of their prestigious Best of Westchester — twice — is an honor we will carry with tremendous pride. It tells us that what we feel when we build this space, our community feels when they enter it. That connection is, without question, the whole point.
To our clients, collectors, and friends who have made Atelier Modern what it is — thank you. You are the reason we show up with fresh eyes every single day. To the artists and makers whose work graces this space — thank you for trusting us with the things you’ve made. And to Westchester Magazine, for looking up from the noise and choosing us, again — we are deeply, genuinely moved.
