Description

Acrylic on Wood Panel. 48 x 36 inches.

This painting began as a meditation on wood grain, its linear rhythms, growth patterns, and quiet record of time. Early layers follow this impulse, building a dense field of repeated marks that echo natural striations. As the process unfolded, these lines began to intersect and accumulate, gradually shifting from organic patterning into a more woven surface.

From this grounded field, the work slowly opens up. Lines loosen and drift outward, moving from tightly held geometry into more fluid, wandering gestures. Color thins and lightens, allowing space and air to enter the composition and shifting the experience from something contained to something more expansive.

Layers remain visible throughout, with earlier decisions embedded rather than erased. The surface becomes a record of touch, movement, and time, where control and intuition coexist. The painting reflects an ongoing interest in how structure evolves, how order softens into complexity, and how meaning emerges through repetition and variation, offering a space for slow looking and quiet unfolding.
