We’d been in Toronto for two years and were about to relocate back to New York. Our time in Canada was shorter than we’d hoped, so I was on a bit of a mission to capture all those images I’d been thinking about. I was walking along the shore of Lake Ontario with a plan to photograph the local lighthouse we’d become so familiar with.
I was ready with my long exposure settings to create silky smooth waves so was taken by surprise when the flock of Canadian Geese I’d just passed took off in unison. There was no time to change anything. All I could do was shoot with the settings I had and hope for the best.
