Do we bury or rebuild? I painted this after a number of women graciously shared survivor stories with me. Within those stories, were choices made that led them down a certain path, many what if's and a hint of self-blame, which was heart wrenching but a reality they lived with everyday. I wanted to show that they are not to blame and that their survival and courage that helped them build upon that faulty foundation makes them incredibly beautiful humans.
