This watercolor is of a street in City Island where I would park while I waited to pick up my daughter from her rowing club. It is a good example of how a place can be completely transformed by the effects of light. On this particular afternoon, the shadows of the utility pole wires were so dramatic that the street changed from somewhere I had never considered painting to a scene I absolutely had to paint!
