The Holidays at Atelier Modern
I love Christmas. The lights, the music, the decorating, and especially that moment when you open a box of ornaments and rediscover little treasures you haven’t seen in a year. Some bring back a memory. Some make you laugh. Some you love simply because they’re beautiful.
For me, ornaments hold a special connection to my mom, who passed away last year. Every year, we would go shopping in New York City and choose one or two ornaments together, making a day of it with lunch at Saks, Bergdorf Goodman, or Barneys. It was a tradition I loved: time with my mom, the city dressed for the holidays, and a little something to bring home and remember it all by.
Now, when I unpack those ornaments, I think of our days together. I’m so grateful we made that tradition, and that I have these small reminders of her to hang on my tree each year.
At Atelier Modern, we have tons of ornaments, and sharing them with you is one of my favorite parts of the season.
As someone who spends her days surrounded by art, I think ornaments offer another wonderful way to express your personality. A tree can be a collection built slowly over time, filled with colors, shapes, and characters that speak to you. There’s room for the sentimental favorite, the unexpected find, and the one your child insists belongs front and center. Often, that mix is what makes it feel like yours.
Ornaments also make lovely little gifts. You can choose one that reminds you of a friend, tuck one into a hostess gift, or start a tradition of choosing one each year with someone you love. Something small can hold a surprising amount of meaning, especially when it comes out again holiday after holiday.
To our friends celebrating Hanukkah, we wish you a beautiful Festival of Lights. May your evenings around the menorah be filled with warmth, laughter, and the people you love. We’re thinking of all the traditions, passed down or newly created, that make these eight nights special.
